Town Resident Information

WATER-SEWER BILLS: The meters are read monthly on the 15th. Bills are sent out on the 1st of every month and are due on the 15th. The late charges are added after the 15th. Payments are accepted at the clerk’s office at 105 W Walnut, by mail at PO BOX 496, online at www.in.gov/towns/pierceton or by using the drop box outside the Community Building.

TRASH PICKUP: Residents are provided with a 96-gallon receptacle for trash. Sweetheimer Trash Removal Service will only haul away refuse that is placed in the furnished tote. There must not be any refuse left outside the tote. The totes are owned by Sweetheimer, but residents are responsible for reasonable care of the tote they have been furnished. The totes should be placed on the right-of-way by 7:00 a.m. each Tuesday, but not sooner than Monday evening. The totes must be moved back to the residence within 24 hours of disposal.

BURNING ORDINANCE: Burning is prohibited except for a few circumstances. Burning of limbs and brush is allowable in a non-combustible container sufficiently vented to induce adequate primary combustion air with enclosed sides and a mesh covering (with opening no larger than 1/4" square).

WEED ORDINANCE: All landowners are required to cut and remove all weeds or rank vegetation growing on their property. The definition of "weed' or "rank vegetation" is any vegetable matter, weed, or grass that is not cultivated in plant beds by the landowner, and exceeds the height of 12". This does not include cultivated bushes, shrubs, or trees.

JUNK CARS: Any vehicle that does not have a valid license plate and insurance or has not moved in 30 days is classified as a junk vehicle. Owners of vehicles will pay a fine and towing expenses.

BUILDING REGULATIONS: Anyone wishing to build or expand a building must first obtain a building permit from the KOSCIUSKO AREA PLAN COMMISSION at the courthouse in Warsaw. Rezoning or variance must be obtained through the AREA PLAN SYSTEM.

LIMB & YARD WASTE PICKUP: If you choose to have the town pick up your limbs, please pile them by the street. We will NOT pick up plastic pots, scrap wood with nails, or trash. We will NOT accept limbs that a contractor professionally cut. Please bag leaves, grass, and twigs.
