Indiana Code 33-42-5-1 states "A township trustee may perform any act that a notary public may perform in Indiana. How to Use the Township's Notary Service

To have a document notarized, please follow these steps:

  1. Schedule an appointment - Contact the trustee's office to schedule an appointment. Notarization is only by appointment and for Madison Township residents only.
  2. Bring a valid photo ID - Accepted forms include a driver's license, state-issued ID, passport, or military ID.
  3. Bring two forms of address verification - Accepted documents include a utility bill, bank statement, or credit card statement.
  4. Do not sign the document in advance - The trustee must witness your signature.
  5. Ensure all parties are present - If multiple signatures are required, all individuals must be present.
  6. Confirm document completeness - The document must be fully completed except for the signature lines.
