Parking: On your first day, you should park in the Washington Street Parking Garage, which is located at 401 W. Washington St. You'll use the entrance marked Garage 1 (facing Missouri Street) and take a ticket at the garage entrance. Bring your parking ticket with you so it can be validated. After your first day, you will receive your State badge for accessing all State parking facilities. Be sure to also review IDOA's information on Parking Services.
Orientation: Each Monday, the Indiana State Personnel Department provides a new employee orientation in the Auditorium on the first floor of the South Government Center building. You will need to enter the building through the Public Entrance and go through security. Orientation sessions begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. (ET) and conclude at 4:15 p.m. (ET). Please note: If a state holiday falls on Monday, orientation is held on Tuesday. In orientation, you'll learn about and complete the following:
- An overview of State employee benefits
- Sign acknowledgement of the Standard Policies and Employee Handbook: commit to read in first couple days
- Receive a name badge and building access
- Potentially report to your new supervisor at Central Office after SPD orientation
Orientation attendees are given an hour break for lunch at noon (ET). Lunch is the responsibility of the new hire, and on your first day you will not have access to a refrigerator. Please keep that in mind if you pack a lunch. There is a cafeteria located on the lower level of the Indiana Government Center south building. It offers a variety of hot and cold meals, drinks, fresh breads and pastries, and fruit and salads.
