State of Indiana Employee Friends Resource Groups
A CULTURE OF INCLUSION: EMPLOYEE & FRIENDS RESOURCE GROUPS
At the State of Indiana, we have a clear vision for Equity, Inclusion and Opportunity: We all have a role in building an inclusive culture — where everyone is welcomed, valued, respected, and heard. It is how we achieve more together — for each other, for the Hoosiers we serve, and for the State of Indiana. It is not about box-checking. It is about thinking outside the box to accelerate innovation. We are not where we want to be yet, but we are setting clear targets and holding ourselves accountable because equity, inclusion, and opportunity matter. We all do better when we all do better.
We recognize that Employee & Friends Resource Groups (EFRGs) can make a significant contribution to the journey we are on to evolve our culture. This journey starts by grounding our Hoosier Culture in a growth mindset focused on the mission and mission of the Governor and the Office of the Chief Equity, Inclusion, and Opportunity Officer. EFRGEFRGs enable the State of Indiana in achieving these objectives by helping the state to support current and future employees and to serve our agencies and business needs more effectively. EFRGs introduce new and current employees to our culture and help build and maintain employee engagement and satisfaction.
EFRGs activate a culture of inclusion and create space for all voices to be heard. They are a powerful way to connect and learn more about change-making topics like code-switching, how to be an ally, and unconscious bias. You are empowered to start a new group for a cause that matters to you or join an existing one. All EFRGs are voluntary, employee-driven, and open to all.
State of Indiana EFRGs use Slack to connect and communicate. Slack is a messaging app for business that connects people to the information that they need. By bringing people together to work as one unified team, Slack transforms the way that organizations communicate.
All are welcome. We realize that some join groups with years or even decades of lived experience. We have much to learn from you, but we also want to create the space and grace to allow others to starting their journey to learn.
