- What should I do with my swipe card since it is no longer used?
You no longer need your swipe card. It can be destroyed.
- Do I still need a swipe card to track my child(ren)’s attendance?
No. The last day that families needed to use swipe cards was July 13, 2024.
Parent Portal
- How do I register in and access the new parent portal?
You should have received a parent key in the mail or with your pre-voucher report that allows you to create an account in the Parent Portal. Access the new portal by logging into Access Indiana at https://access.in.gov/client/signin/. Once logged in, you must link your case, and you need your Case Number, Applicant Last Name, Applicant Date of Birth, and the parent key that was mailed or given to you from the state or eligibility office. Once logged in, select the tile labeled “Child Care Portal.” The new portal provides access to view voucher information and your child(ren)’s absences.
- What can I do in the new parent portal?
The new portal allows you to access voucher information and absences. It is read-only.
- What is a parent key and what do I do with it?
You should have received either a mailed letter from the state or a pre-voucher report that included a parent key. The parent key allows you to create your account in the new portal. You only need to use this key one time. After that, you can just log into the portal.
- If I don’t have an Access Indiana account, how do I log in?
Create an Access Indiana account at https://access.in.gov/client/signup/.
- How do I log in if I forget my Access Indiana username or password?
Your username is your email address. Your password can be reset by selecting the ‘forgot password’ link after entering your email address.
- How many absences are children allowed?
Children are allowed a total of 45 absences per enrollment year across all providers.
- How can I know how many absences my child(ren) has?
You and your child care provider(s) will receive notices at 10, 20, 30, and 40 absence days before your child’sthe vouchers are terminated after at 45 absence days. Parents will also be able to view the count of absences in the portal.You can always check the number of absences your child(ren) has in the Parent Portal.
- Where do I approve personal days?
Children no longer receive personal days with the new system. They are allowed up to 45 absences and will not need to use personal days when they are absent.
- How does the state calculate the number of absences my child(ren) has?
Every child started in the new system on July 15, 2024 with zero (0) absences. Personal days that have been used in the old system were not moved to the new system. Absence counts reset to zero on each child’s anniversary date.
- What information do I need to link my case(s) in the parent portal?
To link a case, you need your Case Number, Applicant Last Name, Applicant Date of Birth, and the parent key that was mailed to you from the state.

- Do I have to link my case(s) each time I visit the parent portal?
No, families only have to link their case(s) the first time they visit the portal.
- If I have a co-applicant for my case, can that person access case information in the parent portal?
Only applicants have access to case information in the portal.
- What are excessive absences?
Children are allowed up to 45 absences per enrollment year, across all providers, before their voucher is terminated for excessive absences. If your child’s vouchers are terminated due to excessive absences, you must wait 90 days to reapply for vouchers.
- If a child has an approved medical reason for being absent, does it still count toward the excessive absence policy?
If a you provide documentation of a child’s serious medical condition or hospitalization, they can be approved for additional absence days if needed. This process is conducted on a case-by-case basis.
- What should families do with their swipe cards since they will no longer be used?
After providers change to the new enrollment-based system, families will no longer need to use a swipe card. These cards can be destroyed.
