Anderson—The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC), the Anderson Chapter of Indiana Black Expo, Inc. (IBE), the City of Anderson’s Human Relations Department (AHRD) and the Anderson/Madison County Black Chamber of Commerce will host a panel discussion Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm at the Madison County Community Health Center on 1547 Ohio Avenue in Anderson.
The free event, titled “Know Your Rights”, will provide a comprehensive overview of the rights and responsibilities of those looking for a job, as well as those currently employed.
“Unfortunately, discrimination remains a serious issue,” said Jamal L. Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission. “From sexual harassment to race and disability discrimination there are a number of barriers to reaching equality that still exist.”
The panel discussion will allow those in attendance to learn more about civil rights, discrimination, what to do if they are treated unfairly, and provide a forum to ask questions.
