The Indiana Civil Rights Commission in conjunction with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, Indiana Arts Commission, Indiana Black Expo, Inc. and the Indianapolis Recorder, cordially invite students, grades 9 – 12, to participate in the 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Writing, and Mixed Media Contest.  

The Submission Deadline has been extended to January 5, 2016.

In his speech, “Where do we go from here?” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. encouraged us to “walk on in the days ahead with an audacious faith in the future.”  Through art, writing, or mixed media show how your generation can continue the fight for a future where access, opportunity, and justice are equal for everyone.

One winner will be selected and will receive:

  • A $500.00 college scholarship
  • The Passing the Torch award from Governor Mike Pence
  • An invitation as a special guest to the 25th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Celebration on Thursday, January 14, 2015 at the Indiana Statehouse
