Indianapolis- The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) will be a presenting sponsor for the 6th Annual Education Conference as part of the Indiana Black Expo's 43rd Annual Summer Celebration July 11-21, 2013 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
Dr. Marvin Thompson will serve as the keynote speaker for the conference held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Dr. Thompson is an educator and principal who has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show for his work in closing the achievement gap and increasing the number of students passing the Commonwealth of VA assessment.

Indiana Black Expo, Inc. is also hosting their 1st Annual Parent Engagement Summit on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. The summit, titled "Equipping the 21st Century Parent" Part II, will also be led by Dr. Marvin Thompson.
The IBE Education Conference, as part of the annual Summer Celebration, was developed for educators to discover best practices for higher test scores, effective classroom discipline, strategies to better engage students and heighten parental involvement.
