The Indiana Civil Rights Commission announced today their intentions of working with three institutions of higher education on immersive learning projects during the 2011-12 academic school year. Butler University, Ball State University and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) have each agreed to work with the Indiana Civil Rights Commission on student-driven projects.
"We are excited about each of these projects, and having the opportunity to work with students and faculty at three state universities, " said Jamal L. Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission. "These projects will allow us to develop consistent messaging over several mediums, while providing dozens of students with real-world experience."
In the fall semester, the ICRC will work with the IUPUI Herron School of Art on developing graphic messaging for use in magazines and publications. Also in the fall, ICRC staff will work with Ball State University Telecommunications students on developing television public service announcements.
The student-driven projects will continue in the spring semester with plans of working with Butler University and their Creative Media and Entertainment program. ICRC staff worked with this program last spring on the development of seven :30 second radio public service announcements. Click here to listen to announcements created last spring.
