Keeping first responders informed of the emergency response plan is one of the most effective ways of protecting the community from possible hazardous conditions involving a water supply and helping to avoid confusion during an emergency situation. It is important to complete regular trainings to ensure that the first responders know the emergency response plan, are ready to respond to spills, and are aware of other concerns covered in your community’s plan. We recommend yearly trainings to keep first responders up to date on your community’s emergency response plan. Please refer to the Wellhead Protection Guidance Document [PDF] for emergency plan requirements.
