Bed bugs are parasitic insects from the genus Cimex, which are micropredators that feed on blood, usually at night. Because their bites are not known to transmit infectious disease, they are not considered to be a public health hazard. The Gibson County Health Department advises anyone who may have bed bugs to contact a licensed pest control operator.
