The membership of the County Board of Health is appointed by the Orange County Commissioners, acting under authority granted in provisions of Section 424, Chapter 157, Acts of 1949, as amended by Section 12, Chapter 358, Acts of 1965. No more than four members of the seven-member board may belong to the same political party. Two members of the board must be physicians holding an unlimited license to practice medicine in Indiana. The Board of Health has the responsibility of appointing the County Health Officer. He or she must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of the local health jurisdiction, and hold an unlimited license to practice medicine and meet the minimum requirements established by the State Board of Health.
