Is It Eligible?
Not every old building, structure, or resource is eligible for listing in the National or State registers. To be eligible, a property should be at least 50 years old, maintain a certain degree of architectural integrity, and have significance at the local, state, or national level in at least one of these four categories:
Determination of Eligibility Requests
Before filling out and submitting a National or State Register application, DHPA staff recommend submitting a Request for Determination Eligibility Form. The National and State register application processes can be lengthy and take time and research. The DHPA staff can determine if a property is potentially eligible for listing in the registers before a great deal of time or resources are invested in the process.
Determination of Eligibility requests are reviewed once a month (see list of dates below). The Determination of Eligibility Form and all accompanying information must be received by the deadline date in order to be reviewed that month. Incomplete submissions will result in a request for additional information that will be reviewed at the next available meeting based on the date of receipt.
