The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 includes significant funding for water infrastructure improvement projects in Indiana. Water infrastructure funding within the bill can be broken into two general categories: wastewater and drinking water projects.
The Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) will oversee formulaic funds distributed to the Indiana State Revolving Fund dedicated to water infrastructure development. The Indiana State Revolving Fund (SRF) is an existing program managed by the IFA which makes loans to communities for wastewater and drinking water projects.
The Recovery Act will provide the IFA with $94,447,485 to fund wastewater infrastructure projects and $27,212,000 to fund drinking water infrastructure projects.
