There are billions of additional dollars available to Indiana through a competitive grant process provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The Governor has asked Secretary of Commerce and CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) Mitch Roob to work with local communities, not for profits, colleges and universities both public and private, and state agencies to ensure that Indiana is competing for as many of these grants as possible and that the projects submitted are as strong as possible.
October 5, 2009- The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that Indiana is one of four states to be awarded a grant to create mapping data depicting the availability of broadband services in each state. Indiana’s $1.3 million grant, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will be used to collect, map, verify, and distribute data that will contribute to a national broadband map to inform policymaker’s efforts and provide better information to consumers about the availability of broadband Internet services. California, North Carolina, and Vermont also received awards from NTIA. NTIA received applications from all 50 states, 5 territories, and the District of Columbia.
The number of competitive grants still available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has decreased since the law’s passage in 2009. However, there remain some funding opportunities for small businesses, local governments, and other entities.

Online Project Survey:
The state, in conjunction with Ball State University, created an online project survey to gather information about potential community projects. This survey is now closed. The survey was designed to serve only as a tool to gather information, and should not be considered an application for funding. Due to federal program requirements, most projects will not be eligible for funding. The limited amount of discretionary funds that will be available will be insufficient to fulfill the large number of proposals received.
More than 9,000 project ideas were submitted via the online survey. Click here to view the list of projects sorted alphabetically by county.
For Wastewater or Drinking Water Projects:
The State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan Program’s deadlines to apply for stimulus funding have passed due to the tight timelines required under the federal legislation. However, if you would like to identify a wastewater or drinking water infrastructure project for future non-SRF grant funding opportunities through other agencies, please submit your projects using the electronic project entry form below.

For Local Transportation Projects:
