The New Albany and Salem Railroad (The Monon) Historical Marker was dedicated on July 14, 2007 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana.
David Barksdale, Floyd County Historian, spoke at the dedication.
Frank Van Bree, Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society, gave a speech on the history of the New Albany and Salem Railroad.
Pamela Peters, the marker applicant, explained the role of the New Albany and Salem Railroad in helping fugitive slaves escape to freedom.
The marker is unveiled while Pamela Peters, Paula Bongen of the Indiana Historical Bureau, and Jenny, the "IHB History Hound" watch.
