Indianapolis-Jamal L. Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Right Commission (ICRC) announced today that the agency had been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department for Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $250,000.00 to increase public awareness of fair housing rights and responsibilities.
HUD selected the ICRC from numerous applicants nationwide for this award. The ICRC will use the funds to launch a series of Public Service Announcements (PSA's) in television and radio across the state to bring awareness to civil rights laws and how they protect consumers and businesses.
Director Smith and his staff hope the PSA's will greatly increase the visibility of the agency statewide, informing thousands of consumers about their rights to fair housing. The ICRC partnered with Ball State University, Butler University and the Indiana Department of Education to produce the PSA's.
