Indianapolis - The Indiana Civil Rights Commission's Deputy Director Brad Meadows, with support from the Great Lakes Equity Center, will facilitate a webinar on Thursday, November 20th from 3:30-4:30 pm (EST). The title of the program is "Ensuring Civil Rights in Education: An Examination of Critical Issues".
The Session Contest includes:
Title VI: Discrimination on the Basis of Race, Color and National Origin
- Examine through an equity lens students' rights to equal access to comparable educational opportunities
- Explore equity issues in supporting schools, districts and colleges that voluntarily pursue racial diversity
- Critically examine the right to equal treatment as it relates to discipline
Section 504 and Title II: Discrimination on the Basis of Disability
- Discuss issues concerning discipline, accessibility of technology and physical accessibility of programs, services and facilities
The intended audience for the program are: educators, technical assistance providers, parents, community members and other individuals interested in civil rights in education.
