Terre Haute—The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC), the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), the City of Terre Haute Human Rights Commission (THHRC) and the Wabash Valley Planning Council on Homelessness for Region 7 (WVPCHR7) will conduct a Fair Housing workshop on August 17th at the Vigo County Library in Terre Haute. The free event will focus on policies and procedures under the Indiana Fair Housing Act (IFHA) as well as civil rights protections for all Hoosiers.
“It is important that we reach every corner of the state in our education and outreach efforts,” said Jamal L. Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission. “We want to ensure that housing providers, and the community alike, is aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Indiana Fair Housing Act.”
The training conducted by the ICRC, in partnership with the THHRC, IHCDA and the WVPCHR7, will provide an overview of the IFHA, specific examples of housing discrimination and important legislative updates including the Americans with Disabilities Amended Act. 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) in Real Estate and certificates of completion will be offered for those eligible.
