John A. (Andy) Weidner is a US Army veteran. He has an associates degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Indianapolis and retired from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department after 25 years of service. During his career with IPD/ IMPD, he served as a street patrol officer, FTO, Narcotics Detective, Physical Tactics and Firearms instructor. Andy spent 3 ½ years with IMPD in the training branch as Firearms Instructor. Along the way, he was awarded by his department with the Medal of Valor, Medal of Merit and several Certificates of Commendation.
Andy now serves the ILEA as a Drill Instructor, Physical Tactics, and Firearms Instructor. He and his wife Leah have two sons, Jordan and Dayton and reside in Plainfield with their dog, Breacher. Andy enjoys spending time with his wife camping and travelling.
His other interests include training martial arts, firearms, and working out. He is the owner of Weidner Training and Development LLC, which specializes in firearms safety and training. Andy says he’s very excited to be a part of the ILEA family.
