NIRPC to hold public comment period on the draft changes to the NWI 2050, 2020-2024 Transportation Improvement Program, and Air Quality Conformity Determination Report
The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) will hold a 30-day public comment period on the draft changes to NWI 2050, Air Quality Conformity, and the 2020-2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The comment period begins today and will end April 5, 2020.
NIRPC’s long range transportation plan is NWI 2050. This plan has a 30-year planning horizon and determines how federal funds will be spent to meet the regional vision of Northwestern Indiana. For more information on NWI 2050, please click here.
The Air Quality Conformity Determination Report is a report that demonstrates that the project
being modified by NWI 2050 Amendment #1 and TIP Amendment #7 will not result in motor vehicle emissions that exceed the motor vehicle emissions budgets in the Indiana State Implementation Plan.
NIRPC’s TIP is a short-range financial and spending plan for the utilization of federal transportation funding. These funds can be used for highway, transit, and non-motorized transportation projects. NIRPC’s TIP is periodically updated and includes projects undertaken by municipalities, counties, transit operators, and the State of Indiana. Federal planning regulations guide the preparation and development of TIP documents.
NWI 2050 Amendment #1 / 2020-2024 TIP Amendment #7 / Air Quality Conformity Determination Report:
Amendment #1 / 2020-2024 TIP Amendment #7 / Air Quality Conformity Determination Report are all separate required planning-items related to the same project. The project is a roadway expansion of Kennedy Avenue in the Town of Schererville. Each of the links below are planning requirements necessary to change the project.
