NIRPC to hold 7 day public comment period on Amendment #1 to the 2019-2020 Unified Planning Work Program

The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) will hold a 7-day public comment period on Amendment #1 to the 2019-2020 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). The comment period beings today and will end Wednesday January 2, 2019.

NIRPC’s UPWP is the approved work plan for the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) staff, which identifies planning tasks and activities that will be conducted over the next two years. The UPWP is also a financial planning document that links resources and MPO staff where they are most significant in responding to local and regional issues as well as continues to balance available resources, long and short-range planning and programming.

Comments may be submitted until January 2, 2019 in the following ways:

  • Email: comments@nirpc.org
  • Phone: 219-763-6060
  • United States Postal Service: NIRPC, 6100 Southport Road, Portage, IN 46368

All comments received during the 7-day public comment period will be compiled into a public comment report and responded to. This report will be made available to the public and distributed to the Commission members prior to any action on these items. It is anticipated that action seeking a recommendation for approval will be taken at the January 8, 2019 meeting of the Technical Planning Committee, followed by action of approval at the January 17, 2019 meeting of the NIRPC Commission.
