    O'Bannon Woods State Park (formerly Wyandotte Woods State Recreation Area) lies in the central and extreme southern part of the state, bordering the Ohio River. It is nestled inside 2,400-acre Harrison Crawford State Forest, but is managed separately, along with Wyandotte Caves State Recreation Area.     O’Bannon Woods was the location of one of the few African-American Civilian Conservation Corps units. The property also has a uniquely restored, working haypress barn, complete with oxen for power and a pioneer farmstead. Indiana’s first natural and scenic river, Blue River, flows through the state park and forest.

    Stagestop Campground, including the canoe access ramp located at Stagestop, is Closed until further notice. Please contact the property with any questions.

    During the summer, pool hours may change because of weather and staffing. Please contact the property office for exact times before your visit.

    The Corydon Capitol State Historic Site is located near the park. Visitors can learn about early Indiana history as they tour the beautiful first state capitol building, built entirely of limestone, and old town square.

JUNE 2024 DETOUR:The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close S.R. 62 over Dry Run east of Leavenworth on/after June 17 through the end of June to complete a bridge rehabilitation project. During the closure, motorists heading to O’Bannon Woods from the west (Leavenworth area) should use the official detour route: Interstate 64 (or S.R. 66 to I-64 east) heading east to the Corydon exit. Take S.R. 135 south to S.R. 62. Take S.R. 62 west for several miles to S.R. 462. Take S.R. 462 south/east, passing through Harrison Crawford State Forest on your way to the O’Bannon Woods entrance.
