The 911 Service Prepaid Wireless Charge is collected by sellers of prepaid wireless devices and remitted to the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR). The prepaid wireless charge on each retail transaction is $1.00.
A seller is required to collect the charge from the consumer with each retail transaction and to let the consumer know the amount of the charge. The seller may separately state the amount of the charge on an invoice, a receipt, or a similar document that the seller provides to the consumer.
A seller is required to remit the charges collected to DOR on the same date the seller’s sales tax return is due (even if the charge is not separately stated). The seller shall report and remit the charges collected using INTIME, DOR’s new e-service portal. See more information on the service charge.
