What is the Indiana Clean Marina Program?

The Indiana Clean Marina Program helps to protect Indiana’s inland and coastal waterways by reducing the potential environmental impacts associated with marinas and recreational boating. Through the Indiana Clean Marina Program, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) provides information, technical assistance, and guidance to marinas and recreational boaters. The Indiana Clean Marina Program is a free and voluntary program aimed at recognizing and rewarding Indiana Marinas, Boat Yards, Yacht Clubs, and other facilities for their stewardship of Indiana’s water resources.

Boaters are encouraged to patronize certified Clean Marinas and to adopt clean boating habits.

Why Should I Become a Clean Marina?

Funding for the Clean Marina Program has been made available through the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (U.S. EPA) Lake Michigan Lakewide Action and Management Plan (LAMP) Management Assistance Funding that is provided annually to IDEM through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI).
