Water & Wastewater

Utilities Logo The Utility Department maintains the water and wastewater system.

The Town of Sharpsville is serviced by one water tower. The water in Sharpsville is essentially well water. The water is treated through a chlorination process and phosphate is added after. The chlorine disinfects the water from microorganisms and bacteria. Phosphate helps coat the plumbing to prevent corrosion.

Water leaks 1 foot from the shut off box on the owner’s property is the homeowner’s responsibility. A whole house shut off valve must be on the incoming waterlines at all residences. If the Utility Department has to shut off the water at the curb because you do not have a shut off valve, water may not be turned back on until one is installed. Water curb stops are not to be tampered with, covered, or blocked.

The Utility Department is responsible for pumping the septic tanks and unclogging lines from the tank to the main line. The homeowner is responsible for the lines from the tank to the house. Septic lids are not to be tampered with or covered. Please do not flush foreign materials into the septic tank as this has caused tanks to plug up. Homeowners may be charged for repairs if foreign materials are found to be the cause of a damaged or plugged septic.

County drains and tiles will not be repaired by the Sharpsville Utility Department. Please contact the Tipton County Surveyor at (765) 675-2793.

New customers can fill out the Utilities Individual Customer Contract form located on the Documents & Forms tab. Please bring your photo ID and the signed contract to the Utilities Office at 124 S. Main Street. For more information, please call The Sharpsville Utilities Office at (765) 963-2221.
