We’re Not Just Moving. We’re Moving Forward.
ISBVI will spend the next few years at a temporary location while a state-of-the-art campus is being built for us to share with the Indiana School of the Deaf. We may be in a new place, but the heart of our school - our people and commitment to students – is the same.
Get Ready for Back to School
Registration at our new school building (2701 Devon Avenue) and residential move-in at our new residential facilities on the Indiana School for the Deaf campus (1200 E. 42nd St.) takes place on Sunday, August 4 between 2pm to 4pm. Registration will start at the new ISBVI and residential students will then go to ISD to finish with registration. School starts the following day on Monday, August 5 at 8:00am.
Enhancing Education at Our New Campus
ISBVI is using this transition to increase the quality of our educational experience too, including through instruction, new student learning opportunities and expanded family engagement efforts. Our temporary campus offers:
- Modern building and school facilities
- Interior courtyard for learning and recreation
- Technology-enabled classrooms
- Gym and athletic equipment
- New educational opportunities (e.g., a new culinary program sponsored by the Indiana Blind Children's Foundation)
- 12 acres of greenspace for outdoor activities and learning
Additionally, student residential facilities will be available this fall at the Indiana School of the Deaf, offering expanded programming and additional opportunities to connect with other students.
Connecting in Our New Community
ISBVI is moving to the former IPS 94 building on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis, where we will be operating for the next several years while our historic campus undergoes construction. With our rich history of community service, we also hope to offer a food pantry, community gardens or other community-based services during our time here.
In addition, Far Eastside neighbors were recently invited to a free summer social event at the end of July at our new school building to meet school leadership, educators and staff.
