Emergency Information and Procedures

For general inquiries, please contact Physical Plant Operations by emailing us at physplantops@fssa.in.gov.
In case of an emergency that requires first responders, staff at any location should call 911.
If there is a true emergency, then call 911 and they will transfer to Capitol Police if you are at the Indiana Government Center. Remember when calling 911, please provide accurate, detailed, and concise instructions to increase response times during an emergency. Staff should be prepared to provide EMS/police dispatchers with the reason for the call (e.g. symptoms, prior medical conditions, if known, etc.), building address, occupant’s location (e.g. floor, side of building, room number, etc.), and inform a set meeting location to escort them to the exact location.
After contacting 911 please inform the FSSA Physical Plant Operations Manager at 317-910-3303 and they will alert IDOA to the situation if you happen to be at the Indiana Government Center.
If you are located at the Indiana Government Center and the PPO Manager is unavailable, you can contact the IDOA Security and Control Room at 317.234.4830 to have the bollards lowered and increase response times. The IDOA Security and Control Room is manned 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. This area should only be contacted for emergency situations.
Only call 911 in the case of an emergency.
If there is a situation where you need someone to come to your area and it isn't an emergency, please contact the Physical Plant Operations group at physplantops@fssa.in.gov (if at the IGC) or your office manager (if at a field office) and they will work with the appropriate parties to provide assistance.
Fire Alarms and Evacuations
If the fire alarms sound in your area, please make sure that you leave the building via the closest exit calmly, yet quickly.
If you are located at an FSSA site other than the IGC, please refer to the emergency action plan for your area and /or your manager or their designee for your gathering site.
If you are located in the DFR area of the South Building, please meet your Floor Warden in Military Park. Remember: Don’t cross West Street. Please cross the canals and go under West Street to enter the park via the stairs. Your safety is more important than getting to the park quickly.
If you are located in any other part of the South Building, please meet your Floor Warden on the South Lawn of the Capitol Building.
If you are located in the North Building, please meet your Floor Warden on the West Lawn of the Capitol Building.
Always heed emergency responder or IDOA staff instructions, don’t loiter next to the building or in Orr Plaza, and please do not stand on the sidewalk.
