DDB Director Sylvia Funk receives Andy Marioni Memorial Award
A national council recognized the head of the Disability Determinations Bureau for her exceptional leadership.
Sylvia Funk, Director of Indiana’s Disability Determinations Bureau, received the Andy Marioni Memorial Award. The Andy Marioni Memorial Award is open to all National Council of Disability Determination Directors who demonstrated exceptional leadership in their DDS, Region and/or the National Council of Disability Determination Directors.
“Sylvia stepped up to the plate as an NCDDD Committee Chair for one of the most complex committees. She has used her leadership skills to ask questions, track progress and seek input in support of policy change and clarifications with our federal partner, SSA. Sylvia is always ready to listen and weigh in on challenging situations with other DDS Administrators and the first to encourage others,” the award nominations say. “In what surely felt impossible at times, Sylvia Funk has been a key partner in vocational regulation reform and advocating for improvements and consistency in policy. Due to Sylvia Funk’s strong leadership and advocacy the DDSs are in a stronger position to serve their states and people applying for disability benefits.”
