Big Picture: The State is moving to Okta for multi-factor authentication

What’s Happening:
IOT has partnered with Okta to implement seamless Single Sign-on and Multi-Factor Authorization for our business applications, such as Office 365, VPN and PeopleSoft. Okta will eventually replace the existing Microsoft MFA that you use today, BUT users should NOT delete the Microsoft Authenticator application.

IOT is launching your new sign-in experience on the evening of 1/28, but you can sign-up nowregister today! Please review the attached quick reference guide (QRG) for enrollment instructions and on how to set up Okta and learn about the new Okta d ashboard where you can see all your business applications in one spot.

Here’s what will change for you on the evening of 1/28:

  • When you sign in to your business applications using your laptop or mobile device, you’ll be prompted to enroll in Okta (if you haven’t done it ahead of time). You will receive a confirmation email after your enrollment.
  • After enrollment, you can sign in with Okta MFA to access your applications.
  • To increase security, you will be prompted for Multi-factor Authentication via the Okta Verify application every 7 days (or the next time you login if it is longer than 7 days) when trying to access any Microsoft Office 365 application (Outlook, Teams). To maintain a greater layer of security, PeopleSoft & VPN will require users to sign-in each time they are accessed. This will occur on your laptop, desktop or any mobile devices that you use for work purposes..

Set up your MFA preferences before 1/28 by going to https://signin.in.gov. IOT will send additional reminders as we prepare for the Okta integration.
