The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) provides academic and field instruction designed to acquaint the Trooper Trainee with the performance, functions and duties of an Indiana State Trooper. The conduct of the school closely corresponds to training for officer candidates in military service.
The ILEA (http://www.in.gov/ilea/) is located in Plainfield, Indiana. Training is typically conducted Monday through Friday, and trainees return home on the weekends. Trainees are furnished lodging and some meals. Trainees are paid the salary of a Trooper Trainee on a bi-weekly basis.
Applicants may be dismissed at any time during the recruit academy.
