The Indiana State Budget Agency's Mission:
Under the direction of the Governor and Office of Management and Budget, the State Budget Director serves the role of chief fiscal officer.
The State Budget Agency (SBA) provides five primary services in the areas of Fiscal Planning and Management:
- Biennial Budget - Each biennium, SBA works with agencies to develop the Governor's recommended budget and provides data to the State Budget Committee to assist in the passage of the State's biennial budget bill.
- Fiscal Management - SBA is responsible for effective resource management and holding agencies accountable to the budget in order to ensure that the State's priorities are funded and that future commitments are kept.
- Fiscal Analysis - SBA is responsible for evaluating the fiscal impacts of legislation, regulations, policies, and federal assistance and making this information available to decision-makers.
- Revenue Forecasting - SBA leads the revenue forecasting process by providing data and models to the Revenue Forecast Technical Committee and also reports on monthly revenue collections.
- Financial Management Policies - SBA establishes financial management policies in order to ensure the appropriate use of State, Federal and other funding.
