About this dashboard

For this analysis, the population of individuals with at least one (fatal or non-fatal) overdose related event was explored. Within the population of individuals, the relationship between the first overdose event an individual experienced and the prescription dispensation data was examined.

Contributors

Data for this dashboard comes from the following data sources:

  • Indiana Professional Licensing Agency‘s (PLA) Indiana’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) also known as INSPECT data. The data includes individual-level information on patients and providers pertaining to prescriptions. Two primary datasets were utilized in this visualization, a dataset containing prescription information and a provider specialty report, both coming from PDMP.
  • Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) data. This data includes information pertaining to individuals who have overdosed.
  • They are in Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Emergency Department (ED) data for symptoms and events relating to an overdose.
  • Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Vital Records data. This data includes information related to the cause of death of individuals.
