Q: How do I visit an inmate?
A: To visit an inmate, you must make an account through Securus. When making an account, you will upload a clear picture of your ID as well as a clear picture of yourself. The name you sign up with needs to match the name on your ID. Once uploaded your account will be pending until a Jail staff member approves it. Once approved you can set up visits for the inmate. Inmates are allowed one free visit per week, which is on-site at the Shelby County Criminal Justice Center. You can pay for remote video visits and schedule them anytime after approved.

Q: How do I find out when an inmate goes to court for the Initial Hearing?
A: The Initial Hearing, or the first time in front of a judge after being arrested, is set by the courts. You will need to contact the courts to find out when the inmate might go to court. Jail officers will not have this information.

Q: How do I post bond for an inmate?
A: Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM (excluding holidays) you must pay a bond through the Shelby County Clerk's office located in the Shelby County Courthouse. After hours or weekends, you can pay at the jail. You can post bonds with cash or credit card 24/7. If you pay cash, you must bring the exact amount of the bond. The jail does not have cash on hand to break bills. To pay with a credit or debit card, you can call 1-888-604-7888 or go to www.allpaid.com. You will need the following information: Inmate name, Inmate jacket number, exact bond amount and the pay location code (PLC): 6051. Note: if you pay through All Paid, there is a non-refundable 9% (of the bond amount) fee applied to all bonds. The Shelby County Jail only accepts bonds posted through a bail bondsmen if the inmate's bond is a surety bond.
