Let's Celebrate Our Hall of Honor Inductees!

Let’s come together to celebrate this year’s Hall of Honor inductees: Richard Brown, John Nally, Daniel Forker, and Todd Tappy! Their dedication and contributions have left a lasting impact on the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) and our community. The Hall of Honor was initiated in 2016 to commemorate individuals who have played significant roles in the Department’s history. This initiative recognizes and memorializes those who have devoted their lives to serving the citizens of Indiana and made a significant impact in the field of corrections. The Hall of Honor is an extension of the Reflections of Pride: History of IDOC Museum, also located at the Correctional Training Institute. Let’s celebrate their remarkable contributions and continue to honor those who serve!

Remembering Our Fallen Heroes

This year, we gathered to honor the brave individuals who lost their lives in the line of duty at the Fallen Staff Memorial. Check out photos from the memorial as we continue to pay tribute to these heroes who will never be forgotten. The Fallen Staff Memorial serves as a visual tribute to all staff within the Indiana Department of Correction who have made the ultimate sacrifice while fulfilling their duties. This memorial stands as a symbol for reflection and remembrance, honoring those who have come before us. The annual Fallen Staff Memorial ceremony takes place at the Correctional Training Institute, allowing us to unite in gratitude and respect for our fallen colleagues. Let us continue to remember their dedication and service.

Successful CPAFI Annual Clay Shoot!

We’re excited to share that CPAFI had a successful clay shoot event at the Cool Springs Education Center in Velpen, Indiana! A special thank you to Kevin Orme and Jessica Williams for their exceptional organization of this event, and a shout out to all the staff who helped ensure everything ran smoothly. The Correctional Professionals Assistance Fund of Indiana (CPAFI) is dedicated to supporting IDOC’s 6,000 employees and contractual partners during times of need. Events like this not only foster camaraderie but also raise vital resources to assist our community. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a success!

October: A Month of Meaning and Celebration

October is a vibrant month filled with rich cultural celebrations and historical significance. It is Filipino American History Month, a time to honor the contributions and heritage of Filipino Americans, whose rich culture adds to the tapestry of our nation. Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month celebrates the traditions, achievements, and history of Italian Americans, while German American Heritage Month highlights the influence of German culture in the United States. Additionally, Hispanic Heritage Month continues into October, allowing us to recognize and celebrate the diverse histories and contributions of Hispanic/Latino communities.

As we embrace the beauty of fall, let's take this opportunity to reflect on the diverse cultures that shape our community in Indiana and beyond. Together, we can foster an environment of understanding and appreciation for our shared heritage.

We’d love to hear how your facility is celebrating this month! If you have any special events or activities related to October’s cultural highlights, please email us at doccommunications@idoc.in.gov. Let’s celebrate our diverse community together!
