Preventive Screenings

Getting regular checkups and exams can help you stay well and catch problems early. It may even save your life. Learn more about your Anthem health plan and what services it covers by downloading the Sydney Health mobile app or visiting anthem.com. When you get these services from doctors in your plan’s network, you don’t have to pay anything out of your own pocket. You may have to pay part of the costs if you use a doctor outside the network.

Screenings

Annual Physical

An annual physical collects measurements such as blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels, body mass index (BMI), and family history to provide a quick check-up on some key indicators of your current health. Your annual physical is an opportunity to meet with a provider to review your health, get your questions answered, and establish a preventive care plan tailored to your specific needs. You will be asked some questions, weighed, measured, and a blood sample will be taken by venipuncture.

Cancer Screenings

Cancer is most treatable when it’s detected early, before symptoms appear. At this point, the cancer is usually still “local” and contained to one organ or part of the body. Preventive cancer screenings help detect cancer during the local stage, before it spreads to other parts of the body and becomes more difficult to treat successfully. Talk to your PCP about which cancer screenings are right for you. Learn how to earn rewards by completing breast, cervical, colon, and lung cancer screenings.

Vaccines

Flu

The best protection against the flu is to get a flu shot every year before the flu season starts. The influenza virus changes over time, so it is important to get a shot every year.
