Wellness Rewards Program - Looking ahead to 2025

Improving health outcomes for you and your family continues to be the top priority for the State Employee Health Plan. Preventive care remains one of the most effective ways to achieve this, and in 2024, we saw more employees taking steps to prioritize their health.

Participation in preventive care continues to increase, but there’s still significant room for improvement. Only about 50% of employees are getting an annual physical or dental cleaning. These simple steps are not only covered by the plan, but they also earn you rewards through the Wellness Rewards Program.

Wellness Rewards Program

In 2025, the Wellness Rewards Program will again reward employees and spouses on the State Employee Health Plan with up to $500 each in gift card rewards. With more than 25 rewardable activities to choose from, the program is designed to help you build healthier habits in ways that work for you.

Here’s what’s new and continuing into 2025:

  • Preventive care rewards: You’ll still earn $200 for completing an annual physical, $50 for a dental cleaning, and $50 for an eye exam. These are simple and effective ways to prioritize your health and get rewarded.
  • Enhanced diabetes support: 9amHealth, our new diabetes management program, continues to be available to eligible employees and their dependents. Participating in the program not only supports your health but also earns eligible employees up to $100 in rewards.
  • Rewardable activities to keep you engaged: From participating in a 5K to mental health check-ins and building healthy habits, there are plenty of ways to personalize your wellness journey.

To get started, visit the ActiveHealth Portal and explore the Rewards Center. You’ll find a full list of activities, track your progress, and see how much you’ve earned.

Potential prescription savings: Transparent pricing model

In 2025, we adopted a new transparent pricing model for prescription drugs which means prices for the same medication may now vary by pharmacy, giving you more control and opportunities to save. Here’s how you can make the most of this change:

  • Log in to the CVS Caremark website and use the Check Drug Cost Tool. Once you log in, you should see the Invest In Your Health logo at the top left corner of the screen alongside the CVS logo.
  • Click on “Check drug cost” and see how much prescriptions will cost at local pharmacies. The pricing tool shows prices at all in-network pharmacies. Choose the pharmacy offering the lowest price for your prescriptions.

Other ways to maximize your out-of-pocket savings on prescription medications:

  • Remember that 90-day prescriptions by mail could provide more savings, both in time and money.
  • Check programs like Good Rx and Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs for special deals on low cost generic medications. Because these programs focus on just a few medications, they can sometimes offer an even better deal than the already discounted pricing you get through your insurance. When you use GoodRx or Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs, you are filling a prescription outside of your health plan. To make sure those expenses are counted towards your deductible, or to get reimbursed for what the plan should have covered, you must submit a Prescription Reimbursement Claim Form to CVS/Caremark. Read more at: www.in.gov/spd/benefits/prescription-coverage.
  • Check the drug manufacturer’s website for discount programs. Manufacturer programs are usually for brand name medications.

While some employees may see normal cost increases that happen at the start of the year, many can now find significant savings by shopping around and comparing prices. A few minutes could save you money.

Looking ahead to a healthier 2025

As we move into 2025, remember that better health is within reach and that the State Employee Health Plan is here to support you on your health journey through resources, rewards, and targeted programs. Together, we can continue working toward better health outcomes for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
