Nondiscrimination at INDOT

INDOT values everyone’s civil rights and wishes to provide equal opportunity and equitable service for everyone within our state.  As a recipient of federal funds, INDOT is required to conform to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) and all related statutes, regulations, and directives, which provide that no person shall be excluded from participation in, denied benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on the grounds of race, color or national origin, limited English proficiency (LEP).

Title VI Policy Statement

Indiana’s Department of Transportation (INDOT) shall comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. Section 2000d et seq., 49 CFR part 21, and all related regulations and directives. INDOT assures that no person shall on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity under any INDOT program, activity, or service. Anyone believing that he or she has been discriminated against based on the foregoing shall have the right to file a complaint with INDOT within one hundred and eighty (180) days of the date of the alleged discriminatory activity.

Transit-related complaints may also be filed directly with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Office of Civil Rights, 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20590.
